Yoyo Zhang is a 22-year-old contemporary artist working across various mediums, from oil painting to digital 3D animation. His practice explores surrealism, conceptual play, and sensory observations drawn from daily life.
From 2021 to 2025, he studied Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he developed a cross-disciplinary approach to image-making. His oil painting series "Labor Lake" was the subject of a scholarly article titled Footprints on Muddy Snow: Ephemerality and Eternity in Yoyo Zhang’s Labor Lake (2023–2024) Series, published in a journal by Columbia University’s Department of Art History.
In the summer of 2024, Yoyo participated in an animation program in Paris, where he found inspiration in both traditional museums and contemporary galleries. This experience deepened his interest in the intersection of technology and art, and continues to influence his current work.
