"walking cycle practice", cut-out animation method
This is a one-week project, creating a walk cycle practice using the cut-out animation method.  I made a paper model and rigged it with iron wires.  Quite similar to “rigging” in digital 3-D animation, which Is quite interesting hahaha.  I created a character, a wolf wearing mechanical armor, which basically the same one as my drawing “Imagination TWO”.  I am thinking of a whole story for this character.  The cut-out animation method is interesting, but it is hard to make some effects I expected.  In the future, I will try to combine with other methods, hand-made or digital.  I think for some specific situations, using the cut-out method will be a very good choice, to make some special, playful, fascinating style.
"candle Dragon", cut-out animation method
This is a one-week project, also using the cut-out animation method. The prompt is choosing a character in mythology and creating a cut-out animation showing the magical power of the character. The character I chose is called “Candle Dragon” from “Classic of Mountains and Seas” which is a very famous book from ancient China. The book talks about Chinese ancient mythology and many different subjects including geography, zoology, botany, medicine, and religion. In the book, “Candle Dragon” is a very powerful immortal being who controls alternate day and night. When it closed its eyes, night falls. When it opens its eyes, it’s sunrise. The head of Candle Dragon is a human head. Its body is like a snake, which is thousands of miles long. The body color of Candle Dragon is crimson red. It does not need to eat and sleep.
