Invasive species project
“Last night, a vineyard in Pennsylvania was stolen. Detective Mr. Dog now is at the crime scene and the suspect is still on the run. Please report the suspected person to the police when you see him in the following region…”
This project talks about an invasive species in the United States called “Spotted Lanternfly” (SLF). The spotted lanternfly was first found in Berks County in eastern Pennsylvania In September 2014. Then, it became uncontrollable and spread across the US. In 2021, scientists found a method using detective dogs to control the spread of SLF. I wrote an essay about this topic and drew these illustrations to visualize and add more fun. These illustrations add a storyline and personality to this scientific topic. I put these illustrations in my presentation. I am thinking of making these illustrations into animation which will be so much fun! It may be a good way to do public education about scientific topics.
